Financial Stupidity and Alcoholism

Ever been on a car journey where the car stalled? One of the guys immediately gets out and opens the bonnet. He does this knowing full well that he does not have a clue what to do once the bonnet is open! Then why does he do it? Because he feels that that is expected of him.

 

It is the same with Financial Literacy. We normally spend 20 years in educating ourselves for a profession. Once we get a job and start earning, we have no clue about what to do with the money earned! Admitting this is very difficult.

 

How can I, a well qualified doctor or an engineer, accept that I have no clue about investing?It is the same with Alcoholics – to get them to admit it and get some help is the first and most important step to rehabilitation.
